About The Ship
Carrying the founder's name
When Captain Richard With established the Norwegian Coastal Express in 1893, he changed life along this coastline for good. MS Richard With carries his name and, in many ways, his legacy: her panorama lounges look out over much of the same remarkable scenery the very first Hurtigruten ships sailed past more than a century ago.
In 2022 she was upgraded to hybrid propulsion, with large battery packs paired with new, efficient engines cutting fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by around 25%. New navigation and control equipment, new waste water treatment, and SCR technology reducing NOx emissions by at least 80% were fitted at the same time, alongside a further refurbishment in 2023.
In Detail
A cosy, working ship
Like the rest of the Original fleet, MS Richard With keeps a more informal, working atmosphere than the all-inclusive Signature ships, with the same Nordic sense of koselig running through her public rooms and contemporary artwork throughout adding a touch of elegance to her maritime character.
