About The Ship

Hurtigruten's newest Signature ship

MS Midnatsol joined the Signature fleet in May 2026, following a refurbishment that spring which prepared her to sail alongside MS Trollfjord. She now spends her summers on the Svalbard Line, deep into the high Arctic, and her winters on the North Cape Line, sailing from Hamburg in search of the Northern Lights.

Previously known as MS Maud, she was built at the same Norwegian shipyard as MS Trollfjord and shares her sister ship's scale and layout, with the same spacious public areas, panoramic lounges and an atmosphere built for a fortnight on board rather than a fleeting visit.

In Detail

A sister ship, refurbished afresh

MS Midnatsol's 2026 refurbishment brought her interiors up to the same standard as MS Trollfjord, while keeping her own character. As with all Signature sailings, an expanded Expedition Team is on board throughout, running talks, activities and guided experiences that add depth to the ports and landscapes you pass.

Life On Board

Where you'll spend your time

Life at sea aboard MS Midnatsol marries modern comforts with an age-old maritime ambience. These are the rooms and spaces that shape a typical day on board, from morning coffee to the last drink of the evening.

MS Midnatsol Obervation Deck

The Observation Lounge

A two-storey lounge behind wraparound windows, the natural gathering spot before dinner and long after it. Settle into a comfortable chair with a drink drawn from Norwegian botanicals and international favourites, and watch the coastline slide by.

MS Midnatsol fitness room

Gym

The fitness room sits behind floor-to-ceiling windows on the top deck, with a small range of cardio and weight equipment. It's a rare gym with a view genuinely worth looking up for, whatever the weather is doing outside.

MS Midnatsol hot tub

Outdoor Hot Tubs

Two outdoor hot tubs sit on the sun deck, open in all seasons. There are few better ways to watch the Northern Lights, or simply the coastline passing, than from the water on a cold, clear night.

Cabins & Suites

272 cabins in all, spread across four categories from Polar Inside through to the Expedition Suites, several with private balconies. Every category is finished to the same 2026 refurbishment standard, and every fare includes full board regardless of which you choose.
