Day 1 - Bergen : Sailing The Svalbard Express
Welcome to Bergen, Norway's historic west-coast city, founded in 1070 and framed by the famous Seven Mountains. At its heart lies Vågen Bay, home to the UNESCO-listed Bryggen wharf with its cobbled lanes, boutiques, and lively fish market serving fresh local seafood.

Day 2 - Åndalsnes : Alpine village by the fjord
Nestled at the end of Romsdalsfjord along Isfjord, your inaugural port of call is the captivating town of Åndalsnes. Upon morning arrival in the town centre, you'll have the wonderful opportunity to explore this picturesque coastal gem, which is home to approximately 2,000 residents.
Historically, from 1838 to 1964, Åndalsnes held the role of administrative centre for the former municipality of Grytten. During World War II, the village faced significant destruction and had to be completely rebuilt. Today, Åndalsnes stands as a modern town boasting its own local newspaper and a privileged location within one of Norway's most awe-inspiring natural landscapes.
One cannot ignore the breathtaking mountains that majestically preside over Åndalsnes, truly defining its beauty. Embrace the Norwegian concept of friluftsliv, a deep appreciation for the outdoors, as you partake in an array of activities. Embark on a rewarding hike to the Rampestreken viewpoint, allowing the surrounding landscapes to leave an indelible impression on your senses.
For a more leisurely encounter with the captivating scenery, sit back and enjoy a serene ride on the Romsdal Gondola or embark on a mesmerizing bus journey along the winding Trollstigen Pass. Regardless of the activities you choose, this day will treat you to the most extraordinary vistas of Isfjord, Romsdalsfjord, and the majestic peaks that envelop the region.

Travel on the legendary Rauma Railway—voted Europe's most scenic train journey—passing icons like Trollveggen and Kyllingbrua, with dramatic landscapes, local legends, and a scenic train-and-bus loop via the mountain village of Bjorli.
Paddle the calm, emerald-green Istra River through the Istradalen Valley beneath the towering peaks of Trollstigen, experiencing Norway's famous scenery from a serene, water-level perspective.
Day 3 - Træna : Norway's oldest fishing community
In the morning, we will embark on a scenic sail along the coast of the Helgeland region. As you gaze into the distance, you'll witness islands emerging from the glistening waters, indicating our imminent arrival at the next destination.
Welcome to Træna, an archipelago located 33 nautical miles northwest of the mainland and perched at the edge of the Arctic Circle. Comprising approximately 500 islands, islets, and skerries, with only four being inhabited year-round, Træna exudes tranquillity, with thriving bird life gracing its mostly uninhabited isles.
Despite its size, this archipelago boasts a rich history dating back to the Stone Age, as evidenced by archaeological discoveries found in the cave on the island of Sanna. Today, this very cave serves as a unique venue for an annual music festival, merging ancient relics with contemporary rhythms.
Spend the afternoon immersing yourself in one of Norway's oldest fishing communities. If weather conditions permit, you can partake in a range of activities such as invigorating hikes, scenic bike rides, or even indulge in the joy of island hopping.
Træna is renowned for its abundant population of Sea Eagles, making bird watching a captivating experience not to be missed. For a truly authentic encounter, step into the shoes of a Norwegian fisherman and cast your line under the warm embrace of the summer sun.
As evening approaches and it's time to bid farewell to Træna, take a moment to unwind and relax onboard. As we continue our northern journey, we will cross the Arctic Circle, marking this significant milestone with a memorable Norwegian ceremony. Let the serene surroundings and the gentle sway of the ship lull you into a state of tranquillity, preparing you for the adventures that lie ahead.
Optional excursions :
Get to know the people, wildlife, and ways of life on the beautiful isle of Selvær.
Stimulate your senses on this fascinating guided walk through Træna's cultural landscape and bask in the natural scenery of the islands too.
For an invigorating experience, enjoy a sauna in Træna's oldest house then, if you feel like it, jump in the Norwegian Sea.
Day 4 - Reine
Today, we explore the legendary Lofoten Islands, approaching from the south as dramatic, jagged mountains rise sheer from the sea—a breathtaking introduction to one of Norway's most spectacular regions.
We dock in Reine, a historic fishing settlement dating back to 1743 and widely regarded as one of the most photogenic places in the country. Here, traditional red-painted rorbuer perch along the shoreline, scattered across small islands and framed by razor-sharp peaks mirrored in the glassy waters below.
Just a short distance further south lies Å, located at the western tip of the Lofoten archipelago and considered one of Norway's best-preserved traditional fishing villages. An optional excursion allows you to explore this tiny yet culturally rich community.
At its heart is the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum, offering a fascinating insight into the evolution of fishing life in Lofoten over the past 250 years, and revealing how the sea has shaped both the landscape and the livelihoods of those who have called these islands home.
Optional excursions :
From Reine, travel through Lofoten's dramatic inner and outer coasts—passing Reinebringen, traditional fishing villages, the preserved hamlet of Å, Flakstad Church, and the white sands of Ramberg Beach—before returning after a scenic lunch stop.
Enjoy a beginner-friendly kayak on Reinefjord, paddling past islets and red rorbu while learning local stories, spotting wildlife, and possibly tasting edible seaweed in this iconic Lofoten setting.
Day 5 - Tromsø, Gateway to the Arctic :
Tromsø, located in Northern Norway, is a vibrant urban hub in the Arctic region, renowned for its remarkable architecture, trendy restaurants, and the world's northernmost university. This city, steeped in polar history, serves as an ideal stopover before venturing further north into the High Arctic.
Despite its humble beginnings, Tromsø boasts a rich heritage that can be traced back to the Ice Age, with archaeological discoveries in the vicinity dating back to that era. In 1794, it was officially designated as a kjøpstad, or "market town," even though it was home to only 80 individuals. In the mid-1800s, Tromsø rose in prominence as a centre for Arctic hunting, evolving into a thriving Arctic trade hub by the late 19th century.
Upon our morning arrival, you will have an entire day to explore this historically significant Arctic city and its enchanting surroundings. Numerous optional excursions await, allowing you to delve deeper into Tromsø's culture and polar heritage. Embark on a captivating city walk to gain insights into Tromsø's past, or venture to the Polaria centre to witness the graceful seals. This remarkable facility, one of the world's northernmost aquariums, offers an up-close encounter with various Arctic marine species.
You may also have the opportunity to visit the striking Arctic Cathedral, featuring a magnificent, expansive stained-glass window that dazzles with its multicoloured hues. Alternatively, you can ascend Storsteinen Mountain, which towers above Tromsø, by taking the Fjellheisen Cable Car. From its summit, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the city, mountains, and fjords, an experience of exceptional beauty.
In Tromsø, the fusion of modernity and a profound Arctic legacy creates a truly captivating atmosphere, inviting you to immerse yourself in its unique charm and awe-inspiring surroundings.
Optional excursions :
This tour of Tromsø includes a ride on Fjellheisen to the summit of Mount Storsteinen for panoramic views, followed by visits to the striking Arctic Cathedral and Polaria, before sightseeing back to the pier—note that due to ongoing renovation, Fjellheisen is not suitable for wheelchair users or guests with reduced mobility.
Take a stroll through the fascinating history and heritage of Tromsø and discover why it's known as the 'Gateway to the Arctic'.

Explore Tromsø by bike on a small-group tour that reveals local secrets, from the historic MS Polstjerna and sandy Bukta Beach to wildlife-rich Prestvannet Lake and the Arctic-Alpine Botanical Garden, before returning to the ship.
Day 6 - Honningsvåg and the North Cape :
Around mid-morning, our journey brings us to Honningsvåg, the northernmost city in mainland Norway. Despite being relatively young, having gained city status only in 1996, Honningsvåg retains its charm as one of Norway's smallest cities.
Here in Honningsvåg, you have a range of optional excursions to choose from. You can try your hand at king crab fishing, immerse yourself in the culture of the indigenous Sámi people by visiting a local family, indulge in bird watching activities, or take a guided tour to gain insight into life at the remarkable latitude of 71°N.
Honningsvåg also serves as the gateway to the renowned North Cape, famously referred to as the "northernmost point of Europe." Rising 307 meters above the sea, this majestic plateau is located just over 1,000 miles south of the geographical North Pole. Take a moment to absorb the breathtaking views as you stand atop the towering cliffs, witnessing the waves crashing against the rocks below.
Perched proudly on one of these cliffs is an iconic globe monument, inviting visitors to capture a memorable selfie. After securing your selfie, a visit to North Cape Hall is highly recommended. Here, you'll find a range of exhibits and a short film that delves into the history of this remarkable cape.
As we set sail from Honningsvåg, we'll be treated to dramatic vistas of the plateau from the sea. The ship will venture further into the vast expanse of the Barents Sea, leaving the coastline of mainland Norway far behind us, as we embark on the next leg of our unforgettable journey.
Optional excursions :
Travel from Honningsvåg to the dramatic cliffs of North Cape for iconic Arctic views at 71° north, before ending in Sarnes with a traditional tasting of locally caught king crab.
Drive your own quad bike on a thrilling adventure to continental Europe's northernmost point.
From Honningsvåg, journey above the 71st parallel to North Cape for dramatic Arctic views and cultural exhibits, then continue to Gjesvær for a boat trip to the bird-rich Gjesværstappan, home to puffins, sea eagles, and vast seabird colonies.
Enjoy a thrilling RIB boat adventure from Honningsvåg to Sarnes, checking crab pots en route before feasting on traditionally prepared king crab and warming up with tea or coffee in a Sami lavvo by the fire.
Travel above the 71st parallel to North Cape for sweeping Arctic views at continental Europe's northernmost point, a photo at the iconic globe, and a visit to North Cape Hall with its panoramic film, exhibitions, and chapel.
Day 7 - At sea around Bjørnøya : Between Norway and Svalbard
As we continue our voyage, we reach Bjørnøya, the southernmost island of the Svalbard archipelago, situated beyond the halfway point between mainland Norway and Spitsbergen. Although we'll only view this inaccessible land from the ship in the afternoon, consider it the prelude to your Svalbard adventure.
Upon catching sight of the island, you may notice its striking lack of trees and even bushes. Bjørnøya is characterized by sparse vegetation, with the land mainly covered by a layer of moss and lichen. However, the abundant bird life that nests on the sea cliffs serves as a vital source of fertilization for the few plants that do grow here. Get ready with your camera to capture captivating moments of Little Auks, Puffins, Black-legged Kittiwakes, Northern Fulmars, and other seabird species soaring over dramatic cliff tops and steep slopes.
Despite its name, which translates to "Bear Island," the only native mammals found here are Arctic foxes. The island was named after a polar bear sighting in the nearby waters, although encountering a polar bear this far south is highly unlikely.
While aboard the ship, take advantage of the opportunity to learn about Bjørnøya's history through polar history lectures. Discover the fascinating tales of the historic expeditions that led to its discovery and the subsequent claims made by various countries over the island. Gain insight into the strategic significance of this remote sanctuary and the role it played during World War II.
Continuing our journey from Bjørnøya, make use of the MS Trollfjord's onboard facilities to relax, such as the sauna or fitness room. Additionally, there will be a photography workshop today, helping you sharpen your camera skills and focus your lens to capture the abundant wildlife and untouched wilderness that await us in Svalbard.

Day 8 - Longyearbyen : At the edge of the world
Today, we arrive in the remote Svalbard archipelago, making our way to Spitsbergen, where sweeping brown-and-green mountains rise from the High Arctic tundra and ribbons of snowmelt shimmer across wide valley floors beneath the summer sun.
Pause for a moment and take it in: you're above 78° north, less than 820 miles from the North Pole, in an Arctic desert renowned for its crisp, pure air. Thanks to a warm branch of the Gulf Stream, summer temperatures here are surprisingly mild, typically ranging between 0°C and 8°C.
By early afternoon, we reach Longyearbyen, set along the shores of Isfjord. Once a coal-mining outpost, it is now Svalbard's largest settlement and a lively centre for scientists, engineers, and adventurous travellers, with close ties to international research projects such as the renowned Svalbard Global Seed Vault.
Enjoy time to wander the town at your own pace, discovering its galleries, pubs, restaurants, local brewery, and the fascinating North Pole Expedition Museum, which chronicles the heroic age of Arctic exploration.
A range of optional excursions invites you deeper into Svalbard's dramatic wilderness: explore the surrounding landscapes by e-bike or open boat, ride in a dog-drawn wagon across the tundra, join a guided fossil hike, or experience life in the Arctic wilds at Camp Barentz—including the rare chance to try dog sledding without snow.
Optional excursions :
Experience the instinctive connection between human and dog as eight huskies pull you across the Norwegian summer landscape on a wheeled sled.
Meet huskies and hear exciting experiences from mushers at Camp Barentz, before taking a trip through time at the Svalbard Museum.
Day 9 - Ny-Ålesund : Science on the Arctic frontier
As we set sail from Longyearbyen, make sure to rise early to witness the breathtaking vistas of Kongsfjord, one of the largest fjords in the region. Its entrance is guarded by two colossal glaciers that emit resonating creaks as they periodically release ice into the fjord.
This stretch of our journey is an opportune moment to keep a keen eye out for walruses basking along the shores and a variety of migrating bird species, including puffins, king eiders, pink-footed geese, and guillemots. On land, you may catch glimpses of Arctic foxes and Svalbard reindeer, while the pristine waters have occasionally graced us with the presence of white beluga whales. If luck is on our side, we might even spot a polar bear stealthily prowling the coastline in search of bearded and ringed seals.
At the tip of the Brøgger Peninsula, nestled on one of Kongsfjord's shores, lies Ny-Ålesund. Similar to Longyearbyen, this settlement had its origins as a coal mining town but has since evolved into a hub for scientific research stations since the mid-20th century. During the summer months, more than a hundred researchers from over 10 countries and 20 glaciology and climate institutes call this place home.
Take a leisurely stroll around Ny-Ålesund, proudly regarded as one of the northernmost settlements in the world. Visit the local museum and souvenir shop, or seize the opportunity to send a postcard from the small post office, allowing your friends and family to receive greetings from this remote corner of the globe.
Immerse yourself in the wonders of Kongsfjord, Ny-Ålesund, and the surrounding Arctic landscape, as we continue our remarkable expedition through this captivating region.
Day 10 - At sea : Leaving Svalbard
Regrettably, it is time to bid farewell to the captivating landscapes of Svalbard and Spitsbergen. As we set sail southward, back to mainland Norway, there is a possibility of a detour to Recherchefjord, a small fjord located south of Bellsund, if time permits.
Onboard the ship, take this day as an opportunity to unwind and recharge. If the skies are clear, bask in the warmth of the summer sun on deck while keeping a watchful eye for the enchanting presence of whales, dolphins, and porpoises. Alternatively, indulge in a soothing steam session at the sauna, offering a moment of relaxation and tranquillity.
For intriguing insights into local history and wildlife, don't miss the enlightening lectures delivered by the Coastal Experience Team. They may also provide a photography workshop, assisting you in honing your skills to capture breathtaking shots in the days to come.
Delight in the culinary offerings onboard, courtesy of our Norway's Coastal Kitchen concept. Indulge in sumptuous food and beverages featuring the finest and most flavoursome local Norwegian produce. As an added treat, there may be tastings of regional delicacies or captivating demonstrations by our skilled onboard chefs in the show kitchen.
Whether you choose to curl up with a good book in the lounge or engage in lively conversations with newfound friends in the bar, take this opportunity to reminisce and share your favourite moments from the voyage thus far.
Embrace the remaining time onboard, savouring the comforts and camaraderie that have enriched our journey, as we make our way back towards mainland Norway.
Day 11 - Tromsø and Senja ; Exploring 'Little Norway'
We have returned to mainland Norway, and our first destination of the day is Tromsø. Here, the ship will unload any cargo from Svalbard and take on new cargo bound for ports further south.
Returning to Tromsø after our expedition to Svalbard follows in the footsteps of history. Many explorers and sailors, upon completing their Arctic adventures, would converge upon this city. They found the fashion and culinary offerings to be remarkably stylish and refined, especially in comparison to the rugged frontier towns they had encountered. In fact, they affectionately dubbed Tromsø as 'the Paris of the North'.
Our journey continues southward towards Senja, one of Norway's largest islands and a rapidly emerging destination in northern Norway. It comes as no surprise that Senja has been recognized among CNN's top ten most beautiful islands in the world. Proudly referred to as a 'mini Norway' by locals, Senja showcases a remarkable concentration of landscapes that draw inspiration from different parts of the Norwegian coast. To fully immerse yourself in the enchantment of this fairytale island, we recommend disembarking in Tromsø and participating in one of our optional excursions.
Embrace the opportunity to explore the captivating beauty of Senja, a destination that promises to leave you spellbound with its scenic wonders reminiscent of various corners of Norway's picturesque coastline.
Optional excursions :
Embark on an exciting safari of the waters of Senja, passing lush islands and islets while looking out for seals and seabirds.
Hop on an electric bike to explore the idyllic island of Senja with ease. Enjoy breathtaking fjord views during one of Norway's most stunning seasons.

Day 12 - Svolvær : Fall in love with Lofoten
Today is dedicated to exploring the breathtaking Lofoten archipelago, renowned as one of Norway's most awe-inspiring regions. As you witness the rugged emerald cliffs emerge dramatically from the ocean, soaring skyward like colossal teeth, you'll quickly understand why this area is celebrated for its spectacular beauty.
Charming fishing villages appear as clusters of red-roofed houses perched on stilts, delicately clinging to the edges of mountainous islands. Scattered amidst the vibrant blues of the sea and lush greens of the mountainside, you'll also spot solitary fishermen huts, known locally as rorbuer, their red hues accentuating the scenery.
Life in Lofoten exudes tranquillity and serenity, as if time itself has been suspended by the sheer magnificence of the islands. Prepare to immerse yourself in the peacefulness that envelops this place, where the rhythm of life slows to a gentle pace, allowing you to truly appreciate the surroundings.
At the heart of the archipelago lies the town of Svolvær, which serves as our base for most of the day. Here, you'll find a delightful array of shops and restaurants, inviting you to explore and acquaint yourself with the town at your own leisure.
To fully experience the mountains, islands, and villages that abound around Svolvær, we have curated a selection of top-notch excursions tailored specifically for Lofoten. Embark on an optional hike to one of the local white-sand beaches, where you can lend a helping hand in a beach clean-up before taking a refreshing swim. And don't fret about choosing between a mountain hike or kayaking—they can both be accomplished during the long summer days, allowing you to relish the best of both the sea and the summit.

Experience an adrenaline-filled RIB ride around the Lofoten, skimming past remote islets and skerries while watching for majestic sea eagles and learning about local life from your skipper.
Day 13 - Bessaker : Welcoming Bessaker
Leaving the Lofoten Islands, we sail south across the open Norwegian Sea and cross the Arctic Circle, a perfect time to enjoy sweeping ocean views from the deck—or unwind in the hot tub as the horizon stretches endlessly around you. Around an hour before arrival, the rugged beauty of the Norwegian coastline comes back into view as we approach Bessaker, a small coastal community in Trøndelag.
We spend the afternoon in Bessaker, a village of around 200 residents that punches well above its weight for fishing. The surrounding waters are rich in skrei, coalfish, and pollock, and since 1979 its annual fishing festival—held on the third weekend of July—has drawn thousands of visitors from across Norway.
Explore the village and its dramatic natural setting at your own pace, where you can expect a warm local welcome, live music, a visit to the museum, and coffee and cake in the pub or café. Day 14 - Ålesund and Hjørundfjord : Secret of the Sunnmøre Alps
The ship will make a brief stop in the town of Ålesund, known for its Art Nouveau architecture and picturesque position on a peninsula below Mount Aksla. We'll off-load any cargo here as well guests who are joining excursions.
Near to Ålesund, cutting through the peaks of the Sunnmøre Alps, some 1,700 metres high, is magnificent Hjørundfjord. Its picture-perfect position embedded in the Sunnmøre Alps means it is the area's hidden gem and a secret from most other ships.
Those who do discover Hjørundfjord rank it as a serious contender for their favourite fjord in Norway. Its deep blue waters and verdant mountainsides seem perfectly proportionate and aligned, as if sculpted deliberately by nature's artistry.
On the banks of one of Hjørundfjord's branches is the idyllic village of Sæbø. This is where the ship will pick up guests who had previously left the ship at Ålesund to go on an excursion.
We are fast approaching the last day of our voyage. While bittersweet, what better way to celebrate our Svalbard Express experience than a merry farewell dinner on our last night. It'll also be an opportunity to look back fondly at the many highlights of this journey we've all shared together.
Optional excursions :
