Booking With Coastal Cruises
Welcome to Coastal Cruises. We are here to help you book your Hurtigruten voyage, and this short guide walks you through the decisions, from choosing a sailing to insurance.
Before You Start
It is a good idea to have the Hurtigruten voyage route map to hand, showing the full route the ships take. Every ship follows the same route from Bergen to Kirkenes, calling at all the ports northbound, and then from Kirkenes back to Bergen, again calling at every port en route. Ports visited during the night on the northbound voyage are visited during the day on the southbound voyage, which is the great argument for the full 12 day round voyage.
Throughout the year, different ships leave Bergen several times each week. Our departure charts show which ship leaves on which date: see Bergen departures for northbound and round voyages, and Kirkenes departures if you have chosen the voyage south. Each ship has its own character, and our ships pages can help you choose.
Booking Step by Step
The Coastal Express voyages offer maximum flexibility, with voyage prices shown separately from land and flight arrangements, so you can build the holiday that suits you. Choose your voyage, departure date and ship, then pick a cabin grade and fare; our fare options page explains the difference between Basic and Select fares, and your cabin covers the grades on board. Call our reservations team on 0333 405 0194 to check availability and reserve your voyage.
Depending on your chosen holiday you have the option to add extensions or extra nights, such as hotels in Bergen before you sail, Kirkenes at the turning point, or Oslo and Norwegian rail journeys to round out the trip.
If you book a flight package, your airport transfers are included in the price, and the whole holiday is protected under Hurtigruten's ATOL licence. Flight packages are available from a wide choice of UK and Irish airports; see the individual voyage pages for details, or ask our reservations team about regional departures. You also have the option to book your own flights, in which case transfers can still be arranged on certain routes.
There is a wide range of excursions available along the coast, from boat trips and city sightseeing to birdwatching and husky sledding. Pre booking is strongly recommended, as only remaining places are sold on board. See the northbound and southbound excursions pages for the full programme with current prices.
It is essential that you have adequate travel insurance for your journey, and that it covers any activities you plan to take part in during the voyage, such as snowmobiling or kayaking. Due to legislation we are unable to offer an insurance product over the phone, but you can arrange your insurance online here (opens in a new window).
Booked and ready to go? Our essential information page covers passports, luggage and the practical details, and life on board answers everything about the ships themselves. As a member of the Travel Trust Association, every booking you make with Coastal Cruises is financially protected.
