About The Ship
Named for the Northern Lights
MS Nordlys, meaning "Northern Lights" in Norwegian, wears her name throughout: the art, colours and décor in every lounge and corridor are drawn from the aurora, giving her a distinct, delicate ambience unlike any other ship in the fleet. After a long day of excursions, the comfy reclining chairs in her lounges are the natural place to unwind.
She was refurbished in 2019 and again in 2024, keeping her modern, Arctic-inspired interior current, and remains one of the working hybrid ships of the Original fleet.
In Detail
A cosy, working ship
Like the rest of the Original fleet, MS Nordlys keeps a more informal, working atmosphere than the all-inclusive Signature ships, with the same Nordic sense of koselig running through her public rooms. She also carries cars, making her a practical choice for anyone bringing their own vehicle along the coast.
Life On Board
Where you'll spend your time
Life at sea aboard MS Nordlys has an easy, informal rhythm to it, wrapped in the ship's own aurora-inspired atmosphere. These are the rooms and spaces that shape a typical day on board, from morning coffee to the last drink of the evening.
Explorer Lounge & Bar
Set on Deck 7, with sweeping panoramic views of the Norwegian coast to go with a hand-crafted cocktail. It's the natural spot to nestle in before dinner and long after it.
Large Outdoor Sun Deck
A generous open deck built for watching the coastline by day and waiting for the Northern Lights by night, in keeping with the ship's own aurora-inspired character.
Restaurants
Four different dining venues on board, from the main restaurant to an à la carte option, a casual bistro and a bakery serving cloudberry jam and freshly baked pastries. See our full restaurants section below for details on each.
