Exploring the spectacular landscapes and isolated communities around Scoresby Sund and North East Greenland, you'll cross the waters of the Denmark Strait, journeying towards a land of towering ice giants, before returning to the wildlife havens of Iceland's western fjords.
Itinerary
Day 1 : Embark the MS Fram in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.
Day 2 : Sail the Denmark Strait bound for Greenland, watch out for humpback and minke whales.
Day 3 : Call at Ammassalik, a remote community and the first trading post in East Greenland.
Days 4 - 8 : The itinerary over the next few days depends on local weather and ice conditions and we hope to visit Kangerlussuaq Fjord, home to impressive glaciers and remains of the Thule culture; Mikis Fjord surrounded by steep cliffs and Nansen Fjord with its abundance of beautifully sculpted icebergs. Scoresby Sund is the largest fjord in the world.
Huge icebergs are set to a backdrop of spectacular mountains and tundra. The only permanent settlement in this area is Ittoqqortoormiit, in this isolated community people still depend on hunting for their livelihood.
Continue further north towards North East Greenland National Park, a very rarely visited area of magnificent beauty. Scientific expeditions, hunters and whalers have left their mark here.
Days 9 - 10 : Cross the Denmark Strait and continue to Iceland’s western fjords, an area of cascading waterfalls and a vast amount of nesting birds where you stop at charming Isafjördur.
Day 11 : Back in Reykjavik is where your exciting voyage ends.

Day 1 : Arrive at Reykjavik, transfer ship to the hotel. In the afternoon the Reykjavik Grand Excursion will introduce you to the capital of Iceland. In the early evening visit the mineral baths of the Blue Lagoon.
Day 2 : Full day Golden Circle tour including a visit to the famous Gullfoss waterfalls, Thingvellir national Park and a geyser.
Day 3 : Transfer hotel to the airport. N.B. This extension is also available pre voyage. |
