Fishermen's Cabin

Sail from Kirkenes to Svolvær and spend time on shore in this picturesque and friendly island community to get a real feel for coastal living in this part of Norway. In Svolvær you will be staying in a rorbu – a cottage accommodation based on the traditional fishermen cabins. These comfortable cabins have been refurbished and equipped with modern kitchen and bathroom facilities to ensure you feel totally at home for your two night stay. Svolvær is a charming little town with fashionable shops and attractions which include the incredible 'Magic Ice' gallery and the fascinating War Museum.

Day 1 :

Embark in Kirkenes and set sail south in early afternoon. The ship hugs the coast and visits the remote settlements as it has done for more than a century, continuing to provide a vital link with the rest of the country.

Day 2 :

The first major stop of the day is Hammerfest, the world’s most northerly town, before continuing towards Tromsø.

Day 3 :

Today the ship negotiates a stunning network of inlets and isles and the first stage of your voyage ends in Svolvær, the 'capital' of the Lofoten Islands, where you will have a two nights stay at the charming fishermen's cabins at Svinøya Rorbuer.

Day 4 :

Free time to explore Svolvær and the surrounding areas, and maybe even a visit to Kabelvåg, the oldest village on the islands. Excursions and activities, available locally, include Sea Eagle Safaris, fishing and boat trips, including excursions to the famous Trollfjord.

Day 5 :

You will have more time to explore the islands before embarking in the evening and your first stop will be Stamsund before continuing south towards the mainland.

Day 6 :

There is further excitement today as the ship crosses the Arctic Circle. Sailing past the famed peaks of the Seven Sisters mountain range in the afternoon before a chance to enjoy the award-winning maritime museum at Rørvik.

Day 7 :

An early arrival in the medieval city gives you an opportunity to explore Trondheim and visit the Nidaros Cathedral. The voyage then continues out of the Trondheimsfjord and past Hitra Islands, making brief calls at Kristiansund and Molde before a midnight call at Ålesund.

Day 8 :

Your arrival in Bergen sees the end of this magnificent journey and it's time to say goodbye to the ship and "på gjensyn"(until we meet again) to friends, fellow passengers and our crew.
