Surrounded by a ring of mountains, and situated between the Sognefjord and the Hardangerfjord, the lakeside town of Voss is blessed with a magnificent natural backdrop of snow-capped peaks and traditional Norwegian charm. Only an hour by train from Bergen it offers an excellent base to explore some of Norway's most renowned landscapes.
Voss can cater for all tastes, whether you are looking for relaxation or excitement, there are a number of locally organised excursions and activities that allow you to make the most of this magnificent fjord setting. Joining escorted tours or taking public transport allow you to be as flexible as you wish and during the summer months a cable car to the top of Mount Hanguren opens up a network of superb trails that give spectacular views of the town and the landscape. There are also opportunities to try rafting, horse riding and kayak and cycling tours for those looking for a little more adventure.
For those interested in the area's fascinating history, the Voss Folk Museum houses a collection of traditional handicrafts amongst its series of sixteen original wooden buildings dating back to the 1600s, whilst cultural events during the summer months include folk dancing folk music festivals and traditional farm visits.

- Hardangerfjord Adventure
Be inspired by magnificent nature and scenery on a beautiful fjord cruise in western Norway. Hardangerfjord is known as the queen among fjords and it's easy to know why after a tour on the boat from Ulvik to Eidfjord. This day trip begins at the beautiful Voss valley and takes you to the fjord in Ulvik. Continue on a stunning fjord cruise to Eidfjord. In Eidfjord the boat makes a three-hour stop, during which several optional sightseeing tours are offered before returning back to Voss.

- Norway Active - Basic Tour
Start your journey from Voss and travel by rail up the Raundal Valley to the remote Myrdal station and change to the Flåm Railway, the steepest line in Northern Europe, and descend to the village of Flåm. You then take a fast RIB (Rigid inflatable boat) on a fjord safari through the World Heritage areas of Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord to the town of Gudvangen. From Gudvangen you drive through the spectacular Nærøyfjord back to Voss.
